The River Weaver Navigation Society (RWNS) is passionate about maximising the potential of the Weaver Navigation, working with public and voluntary sector partners.\u00a0Our vision is to help create an attractive, vibrant environment for Weaver Valley residents and visitors.<\/p>\n
Research by the Canal and River Trust (CRT) has found that spending time near water improves well-being.<\/p>\n
We promote recreational facilities, economic flourishing, heritage and preservation, wildlife habitats and flood mitigation. There is more detail on each of these in the ‘What we do’ section.<\/p>\n
The RWNS has been actively engaged in projects that open up the river to walkers, boaters and others who love the riverside. For boaters, we have helped create new moorings and increase lock opening hours. We proposed new access points to the Weaver, particularly linking Winsford Flash to the canal system and we have worked with CRT on minimising the impact of Anderton Boat Lift downtime.<\/p>\n
Technically (if you like to know these things!) we are a “Unincorporated Association” run by a committee of volunteers with a constitution and and AGM.<\/p>\n
